Transition to Full Day Of School

Most transitions are painful, but this one is acute. Especially if the kid is 3 years old!

Half a day of school is fun as they come back home to have lunch and sleep, doing the very same things in school is a diffrent ball game. However there is hope..........

If you stick to the routine and tide over the first 2 weeks they actually start loving to go to school again. Here are some pointers to make this transition easier

  • Set a routine for everything regarding the kid and the school days.
  • Make the mornings before school fun.
  • Keep the kids updated on what to expect for the day, including snacks and lunch that you have packed.
  • Wake up early and try not to rush through the morning.
  • Don't hurry the kid through his breakfast or toilet/bath time.
  • Before he leaves, tell him about the fun things he can do when he gets back in the evening.
  • Stick to the schedule and keep sending him to school, he's bound to fuss for the first few days.
  • Keep encouraging them to interact with their "friends" at school.
  • Be strong and expect a few tears, the smiles will return in a few weeks time!!

Good luck !

XSEED is thus designed around the 5-Step Experiential Learning Method that replaces the one-step ‘Telling’ approach. XSEED scientifically tracks student and school performance. Schools using XSEED have reported 2-3 times improvement in academic performance in pilot studies." As a parent I've seen the videos and the books and I think it is definitely a huge leap in the way content ...

Changes for the 2014 Academic Year - KG to Std XII

The coming academic year 2014, will see quite a few changes as SBOA School and Junior College aligns itself to the CBSE suggested Guidelines. Though most of the CBSE schools in Chennai city have implemented these earlier, SBOA has taken into consideration, parents and students and have given them sufficient time to adjust to these transitions. The New academic year will start in April 2014 versus the usual June re-opening. So that means earlier exams this year for the primary sections. And also the single long summer holidays would be split into a few weeks in March and most probably a month in May. (This was already in place from last year for classes VI and up.) Also there is going to be a shift from the usual Trimester pattern to a Semester Pattern. This was again implemented earlier for classes 6 and up bur only now being introduced in the primary sections. The school starting timings have been revised for classes 6 and up at 8:15 am and for the lower c...
