The LKG admission process for the year 2014 has started @ SBOA School and Junior College, Anna Nagar west Ext. Chennai. The link for registration will be open at this site from 9.00 AM on the opening day and will be available for 3 days. 19.2.2014 - Wednesday 20.2.2014 - Thursday 21.2.2014 - Friday   Eligibility: Children who are born between 01 December 2009 and 30 November 2010 Instructions : Enclose the printed original Registration form with the required supporting documents in a sealed envelope superscribed with Registration number on the envelope and drop it in the box provided at the school office on or before 24.2.2014(Monday). List of supporting Documents to be attached with the Registration Form at the time of submission. Attested Photocopy of Birth Certificate of the Child.

Admission season is at hand, soon many schools in Chennai are going to throw their gates open to receive applications for the next academic year. Choosing a school is  quite a job and sometimes with the options given it's a tough decision to make. Few of the overall criteria to consider are..... 1. Distance from the school - Anything more than the recommended 5km radius is too much of a strain on the kids. 2. Mode of transport - School buses are as vital as good infrastructure in picking a school. If you cant walk to school then the most sensible option would be to use the school bus. So do check if this facility is available and adequate. 3. Board and Curriculum - In Chennai there were a few different boards till most of them were consolidated into "Samacheer Kalvi Thitam". Right now generally the question is between CBSE and The State Prescribed Board. Each  has it's advantages and disadvantages, research and find one that will fit your ward's need

The coming academic year 2014, will see quite a few changes as SBOA School and Junior College aligns itself to the CBSE suggested Guidelines. Though most of the CBSE schools in Chennai city have implemented these earlier, SBOA has taken into consideration, parents and students and have given them sufficient time to adjust to these transitions. The New academic year will start in April 2014 versus the usual June re-opening. So that means earlier exams this year for the primary sections. And also the single long summer holidays would be split into a few weeks in March and most probably a month in May. (This was already in place from last year for classes VI and up.) Also there is going to be a shift from the usual Trimester pattern to a Semester Pattern. This was again implemented earlier for classes 6 and up bur only now being introduced in the primary sections. The new ROBOTIX classes are all set to begin around the end of August. When we started learning computers, remember our parents hardly knew anything about it, now life has come a full circle with our kids getting into robotics. If you are anything like me, then you don't have a clue! As I persisted researching the topic, few things became clearer. The Olympiads are conducted every year at SBOA from 1st std. The enrollment is done through the class teacher. You will have to register for each paper separately. The class teacher will inform the students about the dates and fees. It pays to prepare for the Olympiads  as the whole portions for the current standard will be taken into consideration for the paper. So the little one is ready for LKG and you are hell bent on finding the right school. Maybe you have narrowed down SBOA School and Junoir College, Anna Nagar or it is on your list of schools to consider, either ways you would need to pick up an application first. From 2012 the applications can be downloaded online and the registration fee needs to be paid at the time of submitting the application. Usually the applications are issued by the mid of January for the current year admissions. You will have at least 2 weeks to prepare your application and submit it. The documents requested to be submitted along with the application would be The birth certificate of the child (With the name entered) An Address proof (Could be the childs passport, family ration card, gas bill in the name of the father or mother, etc...) The long awaited project from SBOA had materialized with the opening of a new Montessori based preschool "Tiny Tyros" in Mogappair near Anna nagar in 2012. SBOA Preschool is currently offering a 'Starters' and a 'Movers' program. The 'Starters' program caters to 2 to 3 year olds. The 'Movers' is for 3 years and above Their infrastructure is state of the art, with spacious and airconditioned  classrooms. It also boasts of computer aided activities and a well equipped activity room. Their working hours are from 9 AM to 12 Noon.
